Paediatric Registrar charged with Manslaughter and her mentor and educational supervisor will be interviewed by BBC Journalist Deborah
Hadiza moved to England from Nigeria in 1994 with the aim of pursuing a career in medicine. She graduated with a first class degree in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Southampton in 1999 and in medicine from University of Leicester in 2003. Hadiza did her paediatrics training in the East Midlands deanery and has a special interest in medical education and hopes to specialize in neurodisability specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder. Hadiza’s future goal is to unlock the potential of children on the Autism spectrum. On 17th December 2015 whilst on call as ST8 in Neonates, Hadiza was informed that she has been charged with Gross Negligence Manslaughter. Having experienced the effects of criminalisation of medical errors, Hadiza hopes that the future for trainees will be based on a learn not blame culture which will also improve patient safety.
