Professor Silvia Schievano and Mr Owase Jeelani

Silvia Schievano is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University College London & Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, where she leads a team of engineers closely working with clinicians to develop new personalised devices and less invasive treatments for children born with cardiovascular and craniofacial diseases. Prof Schievano has been working with Mr Jeelani since 2013 to integrate innovative engineering methodologies into craniofacial surgery. Mr Owase Jeelani is a Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in London, UK. He has worked there since 2000 and was the Head of Clinical Services for Neurosurgery between 2012-2018. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. Mr Jeelani was the lead neurosurgeon for the successful separation of the Sudanese Conjoined twins Rital and Ritag.
