Professor Yves D’Udekem

Yves is a paediatric cardiac surgeon in the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, Professor of Paediatrics of the University of Melbourne and senior researcher of the Murdoch Children Research Institute. He grew up and was trained in Belgium where he developed a passion for cave diving as a young adult. He moved to Australia 15 years ago and developed a large academic practice. He is now renowned for his research in the field of outcomes for patients born with “half a heart”, those born with a single pumping heart chamber, the most complex and severe congenital heart conditions.
