Glenn Mead BA, BSc, MBA, MSc, MBPsS, leads Chimp’s Corporate Programmes directorate. His role is to help to improve performance and bring about change in an organizational setting. With a background in organizational psychology, resilience and executive coaching, Glenn both designs and delivers talks and workshops, from 1:1 sessions to whole organisations. Glenn graduated from Sandhurst in 1990 as a commissioned officer, going on to lead the first-ever British Army expedition to Siberia, and becoming of the six youngest majors in the British army. Since leaving the services, Glenn has held operational management roles with Ernst & Young, Cap Gemini and Accenture management consultancies. When not helping other to improve their performance, Glenn runs marathons and ultra-marathons.
Building on the “Chimp paradox” developed by Prof Steve Peters in “The Mind Management”, Glenn Meade compares the independent emotions of our “inner chimp” generated within the limbic system of the brain that leads to an initial uncontrolled emotion or reaction, with the executive, logical and learned responses that come from the frontal cortex. It is important to recognize, know and “reflect” on your “natural” CHIMP, what triggers it, know your reaction and be prepared to articulate and control.
