Rugby Coach
Dean Richards had a long and successful rugby union playing career with Leicester Tigers, England and the British & Irish Lions. Richards became coach of Leicester in 1998, and in his first season won the Premiership, defending the title four years in a row. He left in 2004 and, after a spell as coach at FC Grenoble, he was appointed Director of Rugby for Harlequins, where he led them back to the Premiership at the first attempt. Richards resigned from Harlequins in 2009 over an incident in which it was acknowledged that he had orchestrated a fake blood injury to a player during a Heineken Cup fixture. He was given a three year suspension from coaching, and the International Rugby Board applied the ban to rugby union worldwide.
