Chris Brooks

Director of R&D

Training helicopter pilots to survive ditching in the sea

Dr Chris Brooks has enjoyed a highly satisfying medical career in the Navy, Industry and Private Practice. He has obtained an enormous wealth of knowledge from his wide range of roles and experience in clinical practice (delivering twins in a gypsy caravan by the light of a kerosene lamp!) and occupational medicine (dangling from the hoist of a Sea King helicopter over fishing vessels in the cold Atlantic Ocean). He has been in the unique position of first being the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Navy and following this, the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Air force. He then worked as the Director of R&D for Survival Systems Ltd, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for 11 years overseeing all work on helicopter underwater escape training.
